Shared Responsibility Policy
- Equal Split: Costs are divided per person regardless of individual usage levels.
- No Prorating: Full utilities are due even if you are away (e.g., vacations).
- The "Gift" Rule: If you're away, your share still covers the fixed base costs, ensuring no one else's bill spikes.
Amendments & Infrastructure Costs
Fixed Infrastructure: Many costs (Internet, Trash, Heating) are flat-rate or have high base fees. These services cannot be "turned off" or reduced based on the number of people in the house.
Shared Risk: Because we cannot calibrate individual consumption for heating or water, the per-person split is the only fair way to ensure the home remains operational for everyone.
Climate Control: Heating is a whole-house requirement. We must maintain a consistent temperature to protect the infrastructure and comfort of the home. Therefore, heating costs remain shared regardless of your presence, as the heat cannot be turned off for individual rooms or absences.
Amendment 3: Fixed Service Fees (Garbage): Garbage collection is a flat monthly fee billed to the property. This cost does not fluctuate based on the volume of trash produced or the number of people currently in the house. Heating & Absence: We must heat the entire structure to prevent damage and maintain a baseline temperature. We cannot "turn off" the heat for specific areas while you are away, so these costs remain non-negotiable.
